Memorial Day Weekend

Well, I sit here again, at the front desk, in the lovely harmonics of Stereomood.com the 'sunny day' playlist going, Jenny and I are here typing away at our computers. I finished writing/responding to all the letter that have accumulated over the past month and drew all of the circuits for my Electrical Fundamentals homework due on Tuesday and did two of the eight problems. I still have CBEE homework to do before Tuesday, but it'll get done I'm sure. This week is so nice, but busy. It's more RA things to get done than homework, so it's a good thing I enjoy my job. Upcoming on Wednesday we have our staff meet and greet for Bloss for next year, where I have to go to a lab earlier that day in order to make the scheduled time. Then on Thursday we are having our Closing meeting and I have to go get pizza and soda for that with our wing funds, as well as stuff for my Lenses Facilitation afterwards. Lenses is one of my favorite facilitations where we talk about which...

Weekend of Duty

Well, I'm sitting here at desk, and I ought to be writing a research paper which is due on Monday morning, yet I don't really want to right now. I was on duty last night and now tonight, and also tomorrow evening. I don't think I'll get to go to church tomorrow sadly. I may try and sneak away for the 2 hours to go to service and take Seth and Mackenzie with me. This whole week has been a busy blur. Just getting work done just in the nick of time. I got back midterms, papers, speech scores, etc. All of them where high B's or a low A, so that isn't bad I think. It's better than getting C's and freaking out about how well I have to do on the final to make up for it. I got to have some fun this week too despite all of the work that has been done. On Thursday evening Karl and I got to go to one of the guy's who is on DPS's house for his roommate's birthday. That was so neat. He also lives with a guy named Mike, whom my old next door neighbor f...

Weekend at Shasta (part 1)

This last weekend, I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity to go to Lake Shasta in California. This weekend is also the same weekend where the greek system also goes, so every time I said I was going to be going to Shasta, people were taken aback at the thought of Mary drinking and partying it up on a house boat on a lake. Well, I didn't go with the greeks, I went with my church, and I honestly can say, it was probably the best vacation I have ever had. Most people left on Thursday morning. I had classes and homework that was due that day, so I stayed until Friday morning. I was picking up Kim (a girl in my small group) and Storm, who I did not know and had merely talked with on the phone to figure out where to pick her up at. We had a nice drive down there. It was beautiful and we made really good time. God was gracious and I didn't get pulled over despite my need for speed and trying to get there in a timely manner. We left Corvallis at about 8:45am (this was really la...

Birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday. It was quite wonderful I must say. It was absolutely gorgeous and sunny, and I had 2 midterms I needed to study for, so sadly not a ton of studying was done. That's okay thought. I think I did alright on my Statics midterm, and I have my Data Process Analysis one tonight, and I'm not too terribly worried about it. I think it'll be okay. On Sunday night, I had decided to remove my birthday off of facebook so people wouldn't clutter my page with 'Happy Birthday's. I find it a bit annoying to get a happy birthday from someone I haven't seen or heard from in forever and they're just saying it out of some social obligation to do so. I still got those awesome people who are my best friends for all of life and remember my birthday who posted or texted something to me. It was awesome. I love those people. A resident wrote me a birthday card, and Karl got me tea and chocolate (I had just recently ran out of my favorite type of tea, Ta...

Hesitation and Procrastination

Ahh, today is lovely. This weekend has been great, though not necessarily productive. I don't think I've been alone with my thoughts enough, so I'm sitting here and I'm going to try and hash things out, I think. As much as I can with some sense of privacy and not spilling my guts. At least, I might. Not entirely sure. I told myself I would wait to date after the thing with Brad, but then I met someone whom I've hung out with a lot, and we had the conversations of admitting we like each other and wanting to do something about it, yet at the same time, there is something in me that is saying not yet, too soon, just wait. At first I thought it was a matter of making sure Brad was okay, for I hadn't talked with him in over a month and finally did so yesterday to just catch up on how life is and how our school and jobs are going, etc. It was actually quite pleasant, but then I had to ask if he would be alright if I dated someone else, because I don't want to do...

Time to Spare

Peppermint tea, Tinkerbell mug, Time on the phone with my mom, and some peaceful Charlie Brown Christmas music. (Yes, I know it is spring.). This has been my afternoon of solitude after turning in my Statics homework, which I finished an hour before it was due at the library with Seth, and butchering the conclusion on my speech in Communications. Alas, it is merely a speech, and the conclusion is only a part. The rest I knew like the back of my hand because it was an informative speech on wastewater treatment. Some people were genuinely interested, and even asked me about my internship over the summer after class. I felt pretty cool because I actually knew what I was talking about and had a solid grasp on it.  Tomorrow is my friend's baby shower, and after calling home, I found that it is not in Portland but Salem. I'm so grateful to not have to drive all the way to Portland. (I don't really like driving there anyways.) This gives me more time to do homework and hang out ...

Crazy Lovely Busy Week

This week has been ridiculous, but God never ceases to amaze me with His presence and peace in each and every thing. I came back from the beach, thoroughly happy, yet terrified at the multitude of things that I had on my plate to accomplish within the next seven days. Monday, I was free to work ferociously on all of my homework. Tuesday I had a Communications midterm at 3, Engineering homework due at 4, and Electrical Fundamentals homework due by midnight. Wednesday morning I had an Annotated Bibliography due at 10am, followed by my manuscript speech in Comm recitation at 11. Thursday our enormous CBEE lab was due. And tomorrow, I have another speech in Comm at 11am and Statics homework due at 4pm. Going into the week, I had half of my annotated bibliography done. That was all. I was doomed. I drank coffee Monday morning, knowing it would be a long day, I would need it, and the continuous productivity from sipping slowly on it all day, helped me manage to get stuff done. It'...
