Today I have a heart

This was probably the most relaxing and yet fulfilling day I'd say I've had almost all of break. I got up around 10:30am I think it was. I got ready, grabbed my books and headed for the Dallas Starbucks. See, I have this thing when I'm at home, that I can never really find a good place to read unless everyone else is out of the house. When I decide to read in the living room, someone will come and start watching television, or they will go and have a conversation (that I deem to be loud since I get distracted easily by others conversing) in the kitchen or in the dinning room that interrupts my reading. This or somone will listen to music with words, which is also distracting for me when I'm reading. And then there is the option of reading upstairs. In the summer or early fall, I can handle it. It's not quite freezing up there (since it [the upstairs] was added on, there is no flow of heat but the tiny little space heater) during that time and I can handle the cold...

Merry Christmas!!

Yay! It's Christmas. Now, Christmas is quite usually my favorite time of year. Not so much for presents, or food (though it is generally quite delicious), but for friends and family. (Yeah, yeah, I know it's cheesy, hear me out though okay?) For Christmas I got basically exactly what my list stated. Mattress topper, vacuum, journals, books, scarves, office supplies needed for school, etc. Now, all of these things just make my life easier, they're practical. I'm more a practical gift kinda person rather than a.. well, I don't know what the other type is. I mean there is sentimental, and I like those too, but practical is just more my cup of tea. I already consider my life wonderful and I can get by without needing things in the holiday season, but I think I got too much this year. I really didn't need all that I received. I honestly feel awkward the way we do presents. It's the whole, we go in turns, each person opening their gift, and we have mom write dow...

Home for the Holidays

I'm home for the holidays! I've only been here for about 4 and a half hours, but really, in those 4 and a half hours, I've kinda missed feeling like myself. There is just something so wonderful about getting to be who you are around family. The inside jokes, the being able to poke fun at one another without having to worry about hurting one another's feelings for you already know what topics are 'off limits'. It's just fun. The last few days at the Res. Hall were actually not that bad. A couple days ago I got to hang out with one of the exchange students who was staying there over the break, and while I was on desk duty he asked if I could teach him how to cook American food. I agreed happily for it would be something to do to keep myself occupied while I was basically quite bored and alone out of my mind. We decided to make an omelet and pineapple upside down cake. The omelet, didn't quite turn out as I had hoped, for I've never been too good at f...

Almost Home for the Holidays...

I'm a bit inbetween things at the moment. I just finished putting up the last third of my door decs for next quarter. (Short for 'Door decorations' they have the residents names on them as well as the room number). Yesterday I was up at 8, I think, and I went and grabbed a coffee and wrote in my prayer journal over at Peet's Coffee on Southside of campus, and had a croissant and some fat free milk. (I used to be a stickler and only drink 2%, but after having 1% so much at home, fat free milk isn't that bad... weird). On my way back I went to Central (aka UHDS, University Housing and Dining Serviced) and printed out all the stuff for my bulletin boards and my door decs. One of my bulletin boards is interactive so I just asked what College you belong to. (Like, engineering, business, liberal arts, etc) and my other one was on the 7 Wonders of the World. Door decs were just their names and an individual paper snowflake for each room. I made snowflakes for my bulletin b...

Boring, Uneventful, Probably Not Worth the Read..

Well, here I am. Sitting in Sackett, all alone, and its kinda creepy. I'm not really a fan of being here by myself and doing rounds all on my lonesome. It's a bit eerie. I'm enjoying the time spent in prayer, reading my Bible, getting door decs and bulletin boards done, (well I'm going to, get them done, they aren't at the moment) as well as just time away from people. I think that is my favorite. Time to think, seek the Lord and just learn to use my time wisely. I got a letter from my friend Matt again. Ah, he is one of the best letter writers around. :) I really appreciate his words of encouragement and advice. I'm gonna reply to him sometime while I'm on duty in the next two days. I've been in the process of making plans for once I'm free of family/social obligations. So far, gonna go to the movies and watch the new Sherlock Holmes film, hang out with a friend from my RP group. (Role playing). She is the only other girl in our campaign, so we...

From Canadia to Home Sweet Home

We didn't die. We came close twice to dying, both which were encounters with really large vehicles, one a bus in Vancouver (BC), the other a Semi while merging from Vancouver (WA) onto I-5 because I accidentally took 205 following directions for 'Salem' while in WA and I think there may be a Salem, WA, I've yet to check on that. Anyways, I'll give a re-cap of my day last day in Canada and of our 'eventful' travels yesterday. Like I said in my last one, we went shopping in the morning, but when Dana-Lee came back from work, we ended up going out to Lynn Canyon.  It was really quite beautiful despite the rain. It was a bit of a workout for me, because, well, I'm very out of shape. I only had to practice my work out breathing once. The rest of the time I was good. Lynn Canyon was absolutely gorgeous. There were waterfalls and huge lakes, and just terrifying heights with the suspension bridge. Glen and I held hands and sprinted across screaming.. just fo...

Meanwhile..Up North in Canada

Hey there! Finally having some down time whilst being in another country. Not that we have a jam packed itinerary or anything, but we're keeping busy and driving around a lot. Probably more than necessary because of wrong turns and such.. Well, I'll give a re-cap from what I can remember of our trip thus far.. Made it to Canada in about 7 hours, maybe a little less. We stopped for lunch in Lynnwood, WA (We had no idea where we were and had to ask the people working at Quizno's). Filled up with gas before we crossed the border, sat in line at the border for awhile and played the song California while doing so. (Andrew's choice). We came to the Munro's to enter a house wafting with wonderful smells of the pot roast dinner awaiting us. (Oh my goodness it was so delicious and heavenly after having very little to eat that day) We decided to stay in that night and played a game of Settlers of Catan. (Just for the record, I won this game. It will probably be the only ti...

Cats and Canada and Ramblings..

Okay. It is early in the morning. I woke up at about 5:40am. Actually, that's not true. I woke up at 10pm, 11pm, 2:57am, and 3:50am. I woke up about just once every hour, minus a few hours of decent sleep. It is worse than being a little one on Christmas Eve. I haven't been this excited about something in who knows how long. I never knew I could anticipate going to Canada this much. I guess it is similar to the trip to Spain I took, but at least I could sleep on the plane on the way there if necessary. In this case, I'll be driving. I'll have my coffee after I eat breakfast though, so I should be okay. The cats this morning were running circles around the couches and Christmas tree. They were making a raucous and it sounded like they were shredding through the presents under the tree. I actually got to go Christmas Shopping for my friends and family yesterday while I was in Salem visiting with Alex. Well, both Alex's. My brother Alex and one of my best friends fro...

Canada Preparation and Final Examinations..

Well life is lovely. I'm here at home in my little town, where people wave at you regardless if you know them or not. It's quite nice, just sitting here and listening to some classic Christmas tunes. The past few nights I've been staying out late and hanging out with friends, going to Ugly Sweater parties and not getting home til past 3am. Ah, tis the life. I've missed my friends and laughing so hard it hurts, or running around with marshmellow guns or nerf guns shooting people. Truly one of the best weekends ever after closing the building and doing all those RA duties. It is so nice to not have any responsibilities for just a brief period of time and that I get to be myself and not have to live in the 'fishbowl' mentality. Well, I've gotten all of my grades, and I'm quite disappointed in myself. They're all A's and B's.. but I really should've done better. I think getting sick in there really just was bad and I felt like I knew stuff ...

Friends Are Everything

I had the best day I've had in a long time. Today was absolutely splendid. I'm in a euphoria of just how blessed and lucky I am. I started out my day in a bit of a rush to get ready so I could do a quick room check for a resident with a fellow RA, but after that I was just in a productive "must-clean-everything" mood. It was nice because the fact that I had finals and was sick was my excuse to keep my room looking like the mess that it was. My trash was overflowing with used kleenex and empty coffee cups and my recycling was mirroring it with the excessive amounts of remnants of paper snowflakes and bottles that were from my many 'milk and cookies' nights. My closet was pretty bad too.. Mostly just clothes tossed on top of the 'dirty clothes bag' that I have.. I needed to do laundry for they were just piling up and strewn about in my tiny little space of what is supposed to be tidy and refreshing when one gets up and gets ready in the morning. So, be...

*sniffle

Well, I'm all done with finals now. I'm kinda sick right now and I'm working at the front desk. I've said a lot of silly things and am finding things quite hilarious whilst not being myself. I was really upset about not being able to taste the Butterfinger that I have for dessert. Finals are done, but I honestly don't think I did that well on my math final that I had today. It was 15 multiple choice, upon which, I think I guessed on about 10 of 'em and then 2 work through problems, and I know I did one of them correctly, the other one I got about half of it. I got a D on my engineering final (which was quite atrocious) and I got a B- in the class unless he curves it and I'll get an B in the class. I think the only classes I may get an A in are Organic Chem and Physics.. On a happy note, I got to play Spyro the Dragon for the PSone and I beat it 5 and a half hours with 120% completion. (they have a bonus level that is accessible if you get 100% on the overa...

Three-Quarters

So close to being done with Finals for Fall term! I had my Physics Final this morning at 7:30 this morning. I woke up at 5:30 in order to study before hand and eat some food and take a few sips of a Starbucks double shot espresso/energy drink that tasted like heaven. (It was vanilla flavored) That and my breakfast was leftovers from Thanksgiving that I forgot I had in my refrigerator. (I should probably eat the rest of those before I leave for winter break.. yeah..) I had my Engineering and Organic Chemistry Finals on Monday at 9:30am and 4pm respectively. I think I did alright.. I'm hoping for a B (wanting an A) on both of them. I think the O-Chem went well, and since the final in O-Chem replaces my C+ from the 2nd Midterm, I'll be alright I think. It seemed relatively easy while I was taking it, so lets just hope I didn't mess up. As for Physics today, I was very bright-eyed and bushy tailed, and I hope I didn't annoy anyone by being a morning person. But I'm gl...

Friyay

Happy Friday! Last day of classes in fall term as a sophomore. Friyay, is courtesy of my Math Professor. He always rights silly little puns or jokes that not many in the class appreciate, but I do. I often find myself to be the only one giggling, but hey, I love to laugh. And today is one of those days where I just have to laugh at myself. My morning, well, I look at this way.. Why drink coffee, when you can spill it on yourself and still be woken up to the same affect? Yeah.. that was the end of the OChem lecture at 9am. I had to walk down Campus Way with one hand shoved into my jacket pocket to pull my jacket down so it could hide the lovely coffee stain that was all over my lap. I definitely kinda looked like I wet myself. Go me. However, the one thing I am quite happy of is that I finished my Engineering Homework on time, and actually understood what was going on. I felt so intelligent, it seriously must've been a miracle. Which is kind of what I'm hoping for my grades; hav...
