Foggy Morning

Good Morning! Or.. Whatever time of day it may be for you while reading this.

It's the Monday after coming back from Thanksgiving break, and what a lovely break it was. Nothing like a little dose of Christmas break and that feeling of warmth being around family to make you want the break to come all the sooner.

Yesterday we, Karl & I, arrived back to Corvallis campus to go our separate ways and get back to studying and doing homework and preparing for presentations, studying for exams, reading for class, etc. (Most of these things were his to do... And he is, by far, more productive than I in a short amount of time.

Karl is leaving for halfway around the world this coming Thursday at about 4am on the HUT shuttle for PDX. He has exams all of Wednesday and an Exam and Presentation on Tuesday if I remember correctly. He has been working ridiculously hard studying and reading, writing essays, staying up until the wee hours of the morning and then only getting a few hours of sleep while I get to hang out with residents and watch Elf, munch on candy canes and crochet. I got up early this morning to grab coffee with him at Peet's before his 8 o'clock class to find out he didn't go to bed until 4:30am. Today we have another Library date to go and do work together. It's becoming more and more real how he is going to be gone for 3 weeks. I know this shouldn't be too terribly long. Especially for those of you who are/have been in a long distance relationship. For me, it will be... tolerable, but not necessarily my first choice on how I'd like a relationship to be.

I'm going to be working the first week of Winter Break after we close for break housing and most everyone leaves for the Holiday season until next year. While I'm here I plan on doing my door decorations for next term in addition to my bulletin board. I also purchase the Lord of the Rings Trilogy a while ago and haven't opened it yet and plan on doing some reading over the break. That in addition to some more crocheting projects, as I bought a good $40 worth of yarn while on break because of some sales that were going on. I want to learn to do more than what I currently know and venture out and make some new and more complicated things than the 'safe' things I already make and default to making. In all honesty, the crocheted head bands and scarves are coming into fashion, so it'd be cool to make them.

Also, while I was at Karl's house for Thanksgiving, June (his mom) and I were teaching each other about our little projects. She showed me how to knit and this cute scarf to make while I was showing her how to crochet. It was really neat to bond over and I think we'll be doing more of that come the winter break.

Alright, well I need to start being productive for the day, so I need to stop chit-chatting about myself and start to do some reading for my Bible as Literature class and perhaps do some research for my nano-technology final project on Risk Assessment. That, and I have a lot of small chores to do around my room. I forgot to drink some milk, and it is a bit past expiration and I also forgot about some leftovers in there as well.. eww.. That and I need to do my laundry, as I am not like most college kids and choose to not burden my mom with my clothes to clean. (My sister does that now that she is in college, so I'd like to spare my mom from the bombardment of laundry when her children come home.)

Hope you have a lovely week and good luck with the last minute homework and studying for finals. No guarantees that I'll write again before then.
Thanks for reading!
-M.E.
