Restlessness

The last few days have been pretty good. However, I keep having this extra 'time', where I'm not crunching before something is due, planning events, working with hall council, doing homework (but I should be...), or doing laundry/dishes, etc. It's just open, and I can work on my paper or do some homework that is due several days from now. I keep waking up earlier than I need to for no apparent reason. I set my alarm two hours before I need to be in class, and I still get up an hour earlier than my alarm. I wake up and I'm not even tired. I know I should be though. And my eating habits are kinda odd... I'm not really hungry, but I know I should be eating meals, and I'm getting self conscious about not working out again. I think it is the regular consumption of coffee again. Too many days in a row has caused my body to flip on the 'power-mode' where I just want to get a ton of work done and not sleep and just 'go-go-go'. I also like to call it 'the energizer bunny mode'. I think I need to cut it out of my regular diet again, because it's throwing me for a loop. Finals are coming up and I don't want to be hooked on the stuff and needing it before my 7:30am final when none of the coffee places are open on campus yet.

I have my final paper proposal due on Monday in my Technical Writing class. I've been writing and doing research on the tertiary treatment of municipal wastewater treatment. Currently they use technologies on larger scales of purifying the water with the use of chlorine, but chlorine is harmful to animals and plants in the environment, so then the excess chlorine needs to be purged by the use of sulfur dioxide. This process is costly and inefficient, so I went through and looked up some more green/environmentally friendly processes that can be implemented into the tertiary treatment. I found some pretty cool things in the studies and now I have to present a final proposal, as in, whether or not I found a discovery worth implementing on a large scale, or if more research needs to be done. I'm leaning toward the latter, and have a new research proposal, and have to write a paper consisting of the research done, and the new research to be done. I also have to submit a budget of resources, finances and materials needed for this (all hypothetical) but it's a bit daunting. It's due Monday, and though I've got a lot of research already done, I have to do the new stuff on finding costs of materials and the types of machines used to test my 'hypothetical research project', which is essentially combining two of the methods I found while researching. These two methods are the use of modified diatomite (diatomite being the skeletons of plankton and algae, and the modification of it being that 10% is lime, 30% aluminum sulfate, and 60% raw diatomite) and using waste anion resins from the anion exchange membrane process as mixed fertilizer. I was hoping to see if one could use the waste modified diatomite as a mixed fertilizer, so that way, not only would they be using something that is naturally occurring, but they would be taking that and re-introducing it to the environment as a benefit.

Cool right? I mean, as long as you were tracking with me while I nerded out about water treatment.

I only have Statics homework due on Friday, and some more E.Funds due next Tuesday, in addition to my Comm Final, E.Funds Final, Statics Final, and Data Process Analysis Final. (haha.. I said 'only'). Oh and then there are the room checks I have to go and do in addition to all of that crammed onto Thursday and Friday. (which on those two days I have 3 of my finals. Oh joy!)

I think my body knows that there is a lot of work ahead, and it's keeping me up for the reason that it wants me to get the stuff I can get done, done now and out of the way so I won't be super stressed next week. (My body sure is considerate.)

Today I got to chat with some of the RA's who are here on exchange from China because Karl is 'hosting' them here along with my friend Liz who was my neighbor last year. Karl had to head off to class, so I stayed with them and Jill while they went to a business class and sat in on their final presentations and also got to go on tour of Weatherford (one of the residential buildings here on campus where Jill is in charge). That took up a few hours of my day, but I think it was worth it and pretty cool to chat with them and get to know them and understand what kinds of 'RA troubles' are more global.

I went to the library after that in order to do my paper for Tec. Wr. but the internet there was atrocious and I couldn't research documents for the budgeting and such, so I gave up and headed home. So now that I'm here, I blogged about my inability to complete anything and how I've just been feeling I need to accomplish things, but cannot. haha.

However, one thing I did do was nail my 'ceremonial' speech today in Comm. I gave a toast to one of my best friends (Toshia) on becoming a mom. I think it was rather sweet. I was going to do a 'bridesmaid' speech for her wedding, but I decided becoming a mom would be better. I also got to have breakfast with Karl this morning before my writing class. Other than that, my day hasn't been through much else. My Data Processes lab is cancelled, (we don't have lab during week 10) so I can go to my small group night tonight, for which we are going to Imagine Coffeehouse to support those who are going on a mission trip to Haiti this summer. (2 girls from my small group are going and I'm excited for them). Then after that I'm off to Cascadia with Bryce the Hall Council President to buy some things for GCA (the cleaning staff of our building) to give them presents for their hard work this year and out of our appreciation for them and all they do. Then I'll hang out and do homework over on Southside til Karl comes back from a concert that he, Liz, and the exchange students are going to.
Yep yep, that's about the extent of my day. I hope it becomes more productive than that. Thanks for reading.

  1. The restlessness could be caused by stress...you seem to have a lot on your plate and your body could be reacting to that.

  2. :/ Yeah.. I'm thinking that is what it is. I just need to take better care of myself. I tend to get stress induced sicknesses.. Yesterday was my first sign of actual stress though with the restless feelings. I also think coffee was a cause, because I had got into the habit of drinking it every day, so I'm cutting it out today and instead drinking water and eating granola bars. Yep yep, I need to be prepared for finals next week! (I liked your recent post btw. :D I left a decently long response.)
