1 Anniversary Down, Decades to Go!

Image
Today was Karl and I's 1 year Anniversary! We went to the Bonneville Dam and then over to Hood River to have fun petting Alpacas and getting some yarn from them, in addition to hiking the Rowena Crest, looking at some cool glass sculptures, rummaging through a bookstore, and enjoying delicious food and beverages at Double Mountain Brewery. But this isn't the important thing. "I'm ready for my close-up, get my good-side though!" Baby Alpaca! Karl really likes Ships Being a Stud on Tom McCall hike at Rowena Crest Bonneville Dam The important thing is (more like important thing s are ) what we have learned from our first year and what we are going to do to keep investing in it. I think we have been ridiculously blessed in our relationship. We've never had a 'big fight' or anything like along those lines, no name calling or yelling, no storming off, nothing. Sure we have things we disagree upon, or that we get frustrated about, bu...

When Facing the Music You Have to Learn to Dance

Lately, life has been kinda hard and discouraging on several different fronts, and it has made having fun a little difficult. I think we're on the up and up, but it really sucked for awhile and we have been trying to make the most of it. It first started when we were waiting to hear back from PSU and about Karl getting into the Masters program of History there for Fall of 2015. We got the letter on a Saturday and after all of the affirmation we received from friends and family, we thought he'd be a shoe-in. The letter was a notice of the lack of his acceptance. We thought it must've been a mistake.... He had a great GPA, phenomenal GRE score, has been working and involved with RA things, worked for DPS, his historical papers were recognized at the University level while at OSU.... why? The letter was addressed to him, so it seemed real, but maybe someone made a mistake and put his name on the wrong letter-head. We cried a lot that weekend. All of our dreamin...

Growing up

For as much as I want to call myself an adult, I know I have a lot of growing up to do. I know I'm a little late on the New Year's resolutions, but I usually don't like to do them and then disappoint myself when I fall through on them. I just tried reading some news articles online to become more educated globally, however, I really have no context for what is happening as I haven't been in the loop for years, and even if I was, there is so much history behind all of the various countries interactions that I have no idea how sided or biased the media is being. That is usually why I trust Karl's judgement/opinion on things. Regardless, I need to learn more for myself and really care to drive myself to do it. Another thing that is a bit difficult about growing up, is having grown up hobbies. When you talk with people at work about your weekend and what you did, saying you stayed up really late playing videogames and drinking beers isn't really something you wa...

Over Thinking....

Just finished up watching some football at Clive's apartment with Clive and Brittany. I've been in a bit of a funk the last few days so I'm hoping that blogging will help me feel back to normal. On Friday at work I had a really long day... I had a bunch of testing to do in the fab, so I was in there for several hours staring at computer screens. I had taken off my safety glasses as I was getting a terrible headache, and then I was confronted by a supervisor about not wearing safety glasses. :( I knew I was in the wrong, but they were only off for about 1-2 minutes while I was at the computer due to my headache. I felt so ashamed for getting in trouble, afterwards I began crying in the fab. :( I never get in trouble and felt so terrible. I know, it is really silly but I felt really bad, especially since it was a supervisor from another department. They were nice, I just felt so terrible. The operators were concerned something bad had happened. Apparently I'm not good at ...

Wedding things, Work things

Hi there! It has been a loonnggg time since I last wrote. I've been pretty busy with the whole moving into a new place, making lots of wedding crafts, acclimating to new job and just overall being busy. Two weeks from today I will be getting married to my best friend and the man I love. I'm really excited to come home from work and share a meal with him instead of being lonely in this apartment. I'm excited to be done with wedding things. Though it is nice to craft, it is very stressed out crafting, especially with the time crunch coming. I'm happy to be done spending over $200/month on gas driving to different things, though ultimately, it was our choice, but still. Wedding season is expensive for everyone. I'm so stoked to be going up to Victoria BC for a honeymoon. I'm happy to know a bunch of friends, family, and co-workers/ex-co-workers will be attending and I get to have one party in which I get to see them all and spend some time with them! Work has been ...

Dreams Coming True!

Hi all, So since my last post, a lot has fallen into place about when/where I will be this summer. Surprisingly enough, the day after my last post of being at peace and not knowing where I was going, I received a job offer. I then followed up with another company to ask what my standing was before accepting the first job offer, and they too offered me a job. Having options, I chose to accept a position as a Process Engineer with ON Semiconductor up in Gresham Oregon, and am very excited! I think I just needed to be at peace not knowing where I was going and then I was blessed with some direction. Talk about nail-biting, as it was during finals week and getting through group projects, finals, presentations, and closing the building. Plus packing and trying to move and coordinating the various graduation activities. Regardless of such, here are some photos from my last few weeks at Oregon State University! (Most are graduation photos, and one from working in the lab.) Mary (left) an...
